Simon and Richard were invited along to the official opening of the renovated Mill at Fountains Abbey on June 14th 2001, due to their production of The Silent Years video which was on sale in the abbey gift shop.
The mill is the only 12th Century Cistercian cornmill in Britain. |

Here, in the upstairs area devoted to art and educational exhibitions, a monitor screen is arranged at the head of a table, on which is laid out a mock-up of a medieval meal. |
A plaque describing Simon & Richard's film is inlaid in the tabletop, along with a button which when pressed activates the video screen and plays The Silent Years (original 1995 version).
The DVD is on sale in the abbey gift shop at Fountains' main Visitor's Centre. The gift shop also has a monitor screen, showing a loop of the 2006 Special Edition of the film. |
