A frenzy of memes of former President Donald Trump’s mug shot flooded the internet in the hours after he turned himself in to authorities in Fulton County, Georgia, with some comparing Trump’s apparent death stare to movie villains and a medieval dictator.

Memes on X, formerly known as Twitter, have compared Trump’s stare-down in his mug shot to the iconic glare among villains in Stanley Kubrick thrillers, including in A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, and Full Metal Jacket, as well as to the teenage bully in Pixar’s Toy Story.
Other memes posted on X show Trump’s mug shot side-by-side with a painting of medieval tyrant Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf, better known as Vigo the Cruel, whose menacing stare featured prominently in Ghostbusters II.
People online have also altered Trump’s face, including one styled with a sweeping blonde hairdo to resemble Owen Wilson, while others compared his stare to Ben Stiller’s so-called blue steel pose from Zoolander, as well as to Lindsay Lohan’s mug shot after the actress was charged with reckless driving in 2013.
Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.), an outspoken Trump critic, posted a meme of former President Barack Obama unveiling a blown-up official presidential portrait of Trump’s mug shot.
Anti-Trump political action committee The Lincoln Project posted a video of the Nickelback music video for “Photograph”—a song that’s generated a slew of memes of its own—with a framed mug shot photo, as well as another of Trump’s mug shot embedded over former First Lady Melania Trump’s dress.
